Pitch · Note finder
Find a note. Hear it. Read it.
Explore real concert-pitch frequencies, piano positions and staff notation together. Choose any key or exact octave to begin.
The frequency is calculated using A4 = 440 Hz in equal temperament.
Tap a key to select and hear the pitch; use the dropdown for precise note selection on small screens.
Music reference
One pitch, several representations.
Every piano key has a MIDI note number and a frequency. This tool uses twelve-tone equal temperament with A4 at 440 Hz; changing sharp/flat preference only changes the written name, not the sound.
Treble and bass clefs place the same pitch on different staff positions. Ledger lines extend beyond the five lines of the staff. For an interval between two notes, use the Interval Finder.
