How to practice

Strum a chord, change to another shape, then follow a steady beat. This is a synthesized guitar, not a recording of physical strings.

LEARN BY PLAYING

Try the same chord different ways.

Load a familiar guitar chord such as C, G, Am or Em. Click each string to hear the note, then use downstroke and upstroke to compare the voicing. Change one fret to experiment with a new shape.

Muted strings are not played during strums. Every position uses standard guitar tuning, and playback uses browser-generated sound rather than a sampled acoustic guitar.
